For years, our communities have been successfully standing up to fossil fuel corporations across the region. Now, TC Energy (the company behind Keystone XL) is trying to quietly expand the GTN pipeline in Idaho, Washington, and Oregon with an additional 150 million cubic feet of gas per day.
But right now, we have an opportunity to stop the GTN XPress project, and we need your support. GTN XPress is moving quickly through the federal permitting process because it requires less approval from state agencies than new pipeline projects.
This means input now from community members and elected officials is key to stopping GTN XPress. The Federal Energy Regulatory Committee (FERC) is accepting input on this project until February 16th. We’ve been submitting comments, but since FERC isn’t holding any public hearings to listen directly to community members, we’re hosting our own People’s Hearing. On February 13th, join us to hear from key leaders across the region (including US Senator Jeff Merkley) and to testify, and we’ll share your testimony directly with FERC. You won’t want to miss this exciting event!
People’s Hearing on GTN XPress
Monday, February 13, 5:00 pm PT, 6:00 pm MT
Virtual: Register for the Zoom link here
Hear from key speakers across the region and testify to FERC!
Our lineup of incredible speakers include:
US Senator Jeff Merkley
Peter McCartney, Climate Campaigner with Wilderness Committee, BC
Dr. Dooley, Physician and board member of WPSR
Naghmana Sherazi, Activist and Community Leader, Spokane
After hearing from these folks, you’ll have the opportunity to testify directly to FERC and put your opposition to GTN XPress on the record. By signing up for the event, we’ll supply you with all the information you’ll need to craft your testimony.
If approved, GTN XPress would increase climate pollution by over three million cubic tons per year - that's more than 750,000 cars added to the road every year until 2050. The project would put thousands of local communities in danger of pipeline leaks or explosions and pollution from compressor stations.
This gas isn’t needed – it’s not worth the risk to our climate, our communities, or our health. Join us at the People’s Hearing on February 13th and make your voice heard.
