Just Transition 102 Study Session
Presented by WPSR’s Nuclear Weapons Abolition and Climate & Health Task Forces
Are we prepared, as a community-driven organization, to join frontline communities and partner organizations to meaningfully support and serve them in their efforts to work?
Join WPSR’s Tara Villalba and your fellow activists and advocates for a special study session where we will unpack what a “just transition” means in our work and communities and how we need to adapt, adjust, or amplify our current practices to be the best servants to our mission that we can.
Just Transition is a vision-led, unifying, and place-based set of principles, processes, and practices that build economic and political power to shift from an extractive economy to a regenerative economy.
This means approaching production and consumption cycles holistically and waste-free. The transition itself must be just and equitable; redressing past harms and creating new relationships of power for the future through reparations. If the process of transition is not just, the outcome will never be.
Just Transition describes both where we are going and how we get there.
Where is WPSR going and how will we get there? How does our work in demilitarization intersect with the climate crisis and environmental inequity?
