Health & Homelessness

  • Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility ONLINE United States (map)

Recognizing the link between growing economic inequity and poor health outcomes, healthcare professionals WPSR's Economic Inequity & Health task force advocates for policies that address racial and economic injustice in our state. One of our major focus areas is the housing crisis, given the significant health impacts of being unhoused.

On October 5th at 5:30 PM, WPSR will host a panel of leaders and community members for a special virtual event where we will discuss why housing is a health issue and how Washington health professionals and fellow activists can advance equitable policy solutions together.

We are thrilled to be joined by an incredible panel, including: State Representative Nicole Macri (D-43); Dr. Richard Waters, medical director for Neighborcare Health's Housing & Street Outreach Programs; Seema Clifasefi, PhD, MSW, co-director of the Harm Reduction Research and Treatment (HaRRT) Center at Harborview medical center; and community leaders with lived experience navigating the health impacts of homelessness.

We hope you will join us!

Together we will discuss why housing is healthcare and how Washington health professionals and their allies & fellow activists can advance equitable policy solutions.

Homelessness is one of the most pressing threats to public healthcare and to an individual's health outcomes and WPSR is proud to stand in solidarity with our unhoused neighbors, friends, and family.

There is no cost to register for or attend this event, though we are asking our guests to consider a $25 donation to support this and future events.
